Hello! 👋🏻 I’m Dr. Leanna Papp.

Trained as a feminist psychologist, I study how people conceptualize, appraise, and respond to everyday sexual violence. Some of the questions that motivate my research include:

  • What “counts” as sexual violence?

  • How is sexual violence normalized?

  • What methods best capture experiences of and attitudes toward everyday sexual violence?

I consider the role that individuals, groups, institutions, and systems play in establishing the types of violence that are considered normative, expected, and deserved. I’m invested in critical and innovative methods, measure development and evaluation, and conducting research that translates into programming, policy, patient care, and more.
